Gym Characters

Have you ever been a member of a gym? What kinds of people have you met?
Here are my 9 observed Characters. With a light touch of course. Enjoy
- Target freaks
People in this category barely talk to other gym attendees. They have a target that they MUST meet and nothing else matters. Generally they are always already sweaty and tend to have preferred equipment and exercises.
- Debate clubs.
This group of people, treat the gym as a members’ club. They are to be found hanging out near the water distiller, or changing rooms talking. No matter how early they arrive, they spend more time talking that doing anything else. They will greet every other person in the vicinity and try to get your attention. Beware of them. Before you know it, you will have no time left for exercise.
- Fashionistas
This group somehow discovered that they like how they look in Exercise kit. For this reason, they will arrive from home, fully kitted for exercise rarely breaking the pattern. They always matching their Shoes and headbands and tights and would not be caught dead wearing the same clothes twice in one week. Working out is purely optional.
- Exhibitionists.
This group comprises of members from any of the other groups. They like to walk around naked in front of the Mirror in the changing rooms. They will very often adjust their towels in your direction, baring all to you and seem unfazed by the presence of others and to take very long getting dressed. I fear this group.
- Attention Seekers
Unlike the exhibitionists, they keep their clothes on, however they are very noisy. They huff and puff and grunt with every exertion and it usually starts soon after they begin to exercise.
- Air Enemies
I just coined this Phrase. I am not even sure if this is a true category but for some reason the moment they get beside you to exercise, the air starts smelling funny. And because by then you are gasping for air due to exertion, you are left with two options. Take huge gulps of foul air or admit defeat, break your exercise and move away.
- Observers
They are the ones that continuously ask you how much you’ve lost, or why do you keep doing only that exercise and telling every mutual acquaintance what you do in gym. Usually they do very little in the gym and the best way to shut them up, is to throw the attention back to them.
- Detractors
They keep trying to change you exercise regime even though there may be no evidence that it is working for them. Ignore them and talk to gym instructors if you need guidance.
- Itchy John/Jane
As the name suggests, exercise creates a need for this group to scratch. Usually they crotches and Nipples. Most gyms have wall to wall mirrors and this gives you a front row seat to the scratch fest.
