Ego vs. Reputation: The Elusive Colleague

kungfu-v3

I have been struggling for the last one week to get some equipment from a colleague. This guy has been anything but cooperative. He never has it when we meet and is always in a hurry to go somewhere else first.

“Don’t worry, I will sort you out when I get back” he has quipped countless times.

Meanwhile, the equipment is urgently required by yet another group of colleagues who have no visibility of this difficulty and may assume that I am the problem.

And because my reputation is now at stake, I have to swallow my pride and beg someone to do their job!

It seems that there are people in this world who derive their sense of importance from being the last resort. They will go to great lengths to achieve this high including withholding information, dragging their feet in joint projects or behaving as above.

My humble request to everyone…

Don’t be that person. It makes life unnecessarily hard for the rest of us.
