Elastic Limit

Today morning, after working out at the gym, a phrase popped to mind.

“The Elastic Limit”

Merriam-Webster defines it as: the greatest stress that an elastic solid can sustain without undergoing permanent deformation.

And why did I think about it.

Well, I was wondering why it has become so much harder to shed of the slightest weight and whether there is an  Elastic limit to humans.

I mean, think about it, How many people used to be really small when they were younger and are now bigger.

And I don’t mean continuously growing bigger….Noooo. They just seem to have a new weight that their body sticks to!!! How is that not permanent deformation.

What about debt? There is an amount of money that you can borrow and pay of easily and then there is an amount that if you surpass will drive you to ruin.

Maybe the elastic limit should not be limited to the definition of behaviour of flexible materials.

Maybe it should be considered a universal truth that applies to human situations as well.

Just my thoughts… here’s wishing you a flexible existence.
