WEIGHT LOSS VI

I was discussing with my sister the other day how long it takes for exercise to star showing meaningful results. You know the kind that earn the title of ‘body transformation’? And apparently, you need approximately 20 weeks for that. In other words 5 months… Let me say that again 5 Months.

I then realized at that moment that the 7 weeks I’ve been whining about is nowhere near that. I’m not even half way there. I was going to write this joyful article about how I’m now on week seven of my exercise, but now I won’t.

Is there really such a thing as quick transformation in exercise?

(All these posts I see on Instagram and Pinterest about 30 day transformation work outs….or those 10 week to 10 day programs… Are they all shams?! <0> _ <0>)

I won’t allow myself to feel frustrated about this though. Because all this has proved to me, is something I suspected was the only truth of the matter all along. And that is patience.

Patience and consistency is what gets you there solidly and with no stress cracks. This culture of instant gratification everyone is all about these days is a lie. Nothing you get for nothing sticks around long enough to do you any good.

Remember that saying, ‘easy come, easy go’? Yeah.

So rather than mope around about how my routine has not given me a 7 week bikini body worthy of a glossy Instagram post. I’ll just take satisfaction in the fact that this past Sunday, big brother (the philosophy one) came home and was literally wowed by how much progress I’m making. I mean, even if I’m not there yet, I’m hella glad people can see far I’ve come and how fast even if I can’t see it myself.

(I always say these sorts of affirmations sound best from another’s mouth. It’s always more gratifying this way)

It gives me the motivation to keep going. So now, my goal is no longer 7 weeks (which ends this week) but rather 10 weeks, for now. And after that, depending on whether and how I adjust my routine, I’ll begin my next 10 week challenge.

I think this works really nicely into my plan to use a series of self-imposed deadlines to get to my goal. I think I already know what else I’ll try to accomplish in that time frame. I think I’ll start saving for my business with that one. I’ll be taking these 3 extra weeks I’ve added to my routine, as a breather and to replenish my stocks. ( I need to do some of personal shopping… soon!) before I dive back into saving mode.

So wish me luck fellow growers and see you next post!!! 🙂
