Yippee Freaking Yaay

So Christmas is over.

And everyone, well ok lots of people,  are out here-and there I’m sure- celebrating the end of 2016.

Which is understandable because let’s be honest, this year fed a lot of people a nasty version of humble pie that resembles the poo emoji.

I’m celebrating myself don’t get me wrong. But see, after all is said and done, what really is the difference?

Yeah it’s 2017 soon and not 2016, but what’s the difference really?  Does something magical happen and all wrongs are righted?  Do dreary work places become cheerful and employee friendly?

Do back to school announcements now bring smiles to not just all weary and cash strapped parents, but also the children?

I’m not trying to be pessimistic. I’m just wondering.

Because myself, lol.. I’m heading back to the same school I was in two weeks ago before my much needed break.  I’m going to see the same old faces, and not finish the same old mountain of assignments, and wake up hating my life every 5:30am Monday to Friday.

The semester continues like it never stopped.

So 2016 for me, is gone, but Uhm.. By itself? I’m looking for a smarter way to say that but you get what I’m trying to say.

There is really no difference. If you ask me anyway.

On a lighter note, it’s a chance to change things, turn over a new leaf, create a list of resolutions to abandon over the course of the year.. Or achieve, I wouldn’t know..

Though, again, if you ask me, those are all things that don’t need a New Year to be done. If you really want to change your life, you don’t need a specific time to start. There isn’t a specific time every year, that if you plan to do something, you’re guaranteed success or some form of it.

You get that urge to change your circumstances, you just go for it. Whether it’s March or June or September. It doesn’t really matter. But let’s keep with the celebratory vibes. Yaay New Year.

Are you feeling New? I sure feel like the same old me I have always been. And honestly, I’m not complaining.
