Hmm?… Humanity?
A chicken thief gets ten years in jail. A rapist gets one. People still think racism, tribalism and all those man-defined classifications make people better or lesser. People put more value in items that are replaceable than in lives that are irreplaceable. People believe that happiness comes from without not within. Instead of learning from bad experiences people use them as motivation to do the same to others; People hurt others because they (were) hurt. The hoarding mentality has taken over people minds as if scarcity is what is at the expense of those around them.
Where goes humanity? Isn’t the ability to be considerate of others what makes us human beings…. human. Why is it so easy for people to turn a blind eye to the suffering or to laugh at the misfortunes of others? Stop for a moment and think. How many times have you thought someone else will do it? or maybe next time you will? How many times have you kept something not because you needed it but just because…even though you know someone somewhere would benefit from it.
The world would be a better place if people put value in the things that matter. If people treat others as they would like to be treated. It would be a better place if people realized that happiness comes from doing things that make you at peace and not from accumulating what others have that makes them happy. If people did for others what they would like or would have liked someone to do to/for them if or when they were in that position.
As the year comes to a close, and a new year begins; make a difference; be the difference. Look around you. They are as you are.
