LETS DRINK MORE WATER (10 tips)

Hello there, fellow growers! How are you? Good? Good. Oh, who, me? Still feeling like what the cat dragged in today. Thanks for asking. 🙂 (I’m not being sarcastic today. I’m sort of in a better mood) Yesterday I was kind of the opinion that I am sick, today I’m sure. What’s happened to my constitution though? I used to be hardy as an ox in high school, and that wasn’t too … long ago I guess. I’m still young. Maybe its global warming and climate change. It could be the chemicals in the food… (Gasp and whisper, clutching my chest) ‘It could be chemtrails…’ <O>_<O>
(I think I’m losing my mind…illuminati)
Anyway, sorry about that, my crazy’s leaking out again. But let’s move on to brighter things. Human beings are 70% water. That’s mind boggling. That means literally the only reason we can survive out of water, unlike fish, is the set of lungs God gave us. (Okay, I’m exaggerating, but you get my point don’t you?) This also means that when you neglect to drink enough water and replenish your reserves, your body suffers, and you start complaining that your blood is molasses, like I was yesterday.
It’s quite the eye opener, because then you realize that maybe a big part of why you are lazy or unmotivated is just the fact that your system is sluggish because it’s not getting enough water. And that’s why bending down to pick up a shoe makes you feel like you’ve run a marathon. Your blood is thicker, because there is less water in your body, and the heart has to work harder to pump it. Yeah, it’s that scary.
Sufficient intake of water keeps your skin glowing, your metabolism up, improves your digestion and energy, helps to avoid constipation, kidney problems and other health issues. Basically it’s very important. But it’s also very tasteless. People say drink more water like it’s easy. It’s much harder than most people think. It’s one of those habits you need to work on and build up. I’ve been thinking that this is probably part of my problem right now, and I’m actively working on it. So, here are some tips on how to drink more water.
Flavor it
We see this on Instagram, pinterest, tumblr….all these diy hacks on how to add some flavor to your water. We’ve already established that a major issue with drinking more water is its tastelessness. This is the perfect remedy. Add, fruit slices, veg slices, herbs even to your water to give you that motivation to keep sipping.
Incorporate it into your daily routine
Literally punctuate your day to day activities with a glass of water, or even a set number of gulps (…hmmm, let’s see…how’s 5 gulps?) When you go to the toilet, gulp, sit down to eat, gulp, go for a walk, gulp, come back, gulp, breath, gulp. Catch my drift. J
Drink after every bathroom break
This is so especially important as to warrant its own point. When you go to the bathroom, you actively expel water from your body. And it is important that you replenish your reserves as soon as possible. Making a point to do this should help increase your water intake.
Sip before eat
Like the above point this is also a big deal because it actually helps to lower calorie intake. Like really. It helps you feel full, which means that you will eat less. (You also save money because unlike most beverages, water is free) It curbs dehydration which is always bad for the skin. So in the end you be glowing. Improves your energy, because dehydration has been known to cause a drop in energy levels.
Dilute sugary dinks with water and ice
This was a revelation for me. When I was younger, I never understood why anybody would add ice to a glass of coke when all it did was take up space and make it taste bad. Now I know. You literally drink less empty carbs and take in more water at the same time. Genius!!!!!
Keep some water nearby
It would be much easier to remember your commitment to this end if you had water near you all the time. So make the effort to prepare a deliciously flavored gallon of water and have it on standby next to you for a quick refill whenever your bottle or glass runs out.
Invest in a filter
Apparently, filtered water tastes better than chlorinated water. So if want to take the natural route this is a good option for you.
Eat more foods rich in water
Watermelons, cucumbers, zucchini, grapefruit, strawberries, pineapples, all of these have very high water content. Incorporate them into your daily diet as you work on this effort.
Use marked up water bottles
Especially those with amount and time deadlines on them. This is a fun way to keep you motivated throughout the day. You could even draw in these with a marker yourself if you don’t have one of these bottles, so no need to buy a new one. Also buying a really fun and cool water bottle could also motivate to have water with you all the time and even to drink.
Eat spicy food
This is my favorite tip, because I looooove spicy food. Unless you have ulcers or some sort of allergy to spice, I strongly recommend this one. Having really hot food encourages you to have water nearby, for relief, when the spice gets too hot. And so, in the end you drink more water, and that what we all want right? (Fun fact: Studies show that cultures that eat the most spicy food have much lower incidence of heart attack and stroke.)
So there you have it! See you next post \(‘-’)>
