Solitary Confinement

Escaping from reality is something all of us do on a daily basis. You focus on your work, hang out with friends or go online just to have something to do. Why? Could it be because anyone or anything else would make better company than yourself? You want that thing/person to give you peace and happiness. Then when you do have time to keep yourself company…. you fall asleep.
It is only when you are forced into solitary confinement that you truly have a heart to heart with yourself. Which should not be the case. We wait for bad things to happen that force us into a form of hibernation in order for us to put our lives into perspective when that should be something we do every day. In fact, you should have a conversation with yourself first thing in the morning to determine what you want to do, what you don’t want to do or what you should stop/continue doing.
You cannot find happiness through ignoring yourself. That is akin to walking on hot coal believing it won’t burn you. You need to spend time in your own head. Listening to your thoughts. Yes your head is smaller than the world outside but it is filled with amazing dreams and visions, thoughts and feelings…. that you need to review. If you can manage that… You will have peace so deep and refreshing that you will be able to give to others as opposed to just receiving it. Face yourself. Solitary confinement is not so bad…
The truth is unless you are free from the external distractions, you cannot clarify or assess the true value, importance or significance of the things happening and people in your life.
