Responsibility

confused-face

Recently, One of my colleagues had an urgent task she needed done. Unfortunately, the person, who would normally do it, had changed roles and his replacement was a little sluggish on the uptake. She sought out the earlier guy and requested that he assist to expedite the task

This resulted in their ‘healthy’ disagreement about responsibility to which I was witness

One party argued that if you are an expert at something, even if it is no longer your responsibility, you should be willing too chip in when asked to.

The other side argued that  a refusal to work with the replacement (possibly because their output is not as satisfactory) only keeps said replacement incompetent. In other words, even if they failed, the consequences would inspire them to improve.

I couldn’t decide who was right….

What say you?
