WEIGHT LOSS VIII – Getting back into gear

I found it!!! I found a new routine all together that I think I will do for a while. Its dance cardio and A LOT of fun. It’s basically 2 videos each about 13-14 minutes long, which translates to just north of 20 minutes. (Perfect!) And they work your body without heavy strain.

Even without weights and resistance training, I was sweating like a pig five minutes in. I could feel the muscle groups each exercise was working it got my hear racing in a snap. And best of all it was fun. The downside is that it needs a lot of space so I had to wait for folks to retire for the night so I could use the living room, but that’s a little thing.

Actually, now that I think about it, it was more a mix of kickboxing and dance than just dance, but it felt like dance because of the rhythm. The lady has flavor and such great energy, I can’t help but want to keep going, which is always the kind of feeling you want to have when we are talking exercise. (Did I mention it was fun?)

The underside of this is I wasn’t doing any specific spot training exercises. Things like squats, lunges, crunches, leg-ups…which is basically much of what my last work out was made up of. And while I do feel some concern about this, I’ll say, and I may have mentioned before that I’d already been doing the work outs for so long I felt like I had more or less stagnated.

And on the same note, I had been thinking for a while that now that I had built much of the muscle (because that’s what these exercises helped do) the next thing to do next is find a mostly, or full cardio workout to use these muscles to get rid of the stubborn fat. (We’re talking wings, back fat, thunder thighs –these have been disappearing slowly though, and the bane of all of them; belly fat)

If I think about it really, dance cardio, aerobics and the like are probably the best for this. You can do it in groups, it really wrings you out, like you will be drenched and best of all, and you will have fun doing it on top of adding some serious dance moves to your arsenal.

I’m so psyched up right now, that I’m having to be weary that I don’t  overdo it and burn out again like last time. I want to add one more though, for a little more wring. I mentioned that it was mostly kick boxing, but I was thinking I want to add a ten minute actual dance cardio vid at the end to finish with a bang. 30 minutes isn’t too much right? I don’t think I want to go up to 40 again.

I’ve come to the realization that 40 is just not optimal for daily. Maybe on alternate days… for me at least. I don’t know about anyone else though. People are different. With my daily activities being what they are, I think 30 is toeing the line exactly between steady and unsustainable. But … let’s just see how this goes first.

I’ll see you guys next post!!!
