Obsession vs Ambition

We have all been blessed with the gift of life. Some people seem to have it better while others worse at using this gift. Why? What is it that makes it vary so much from one individual to another. Aside from factors like fortunes e.g. being born in riches vs being born in rags, what makes the difference.
It is the state of mind or the approach. Any successful person will tell you that to get where they are and to maintain that state, they had to be focused. They had to have their minds and hearts in their business and they business in their hearts and minds. They were ambitious but not obsessed.
Ambitious people know what they want just as do obsessed people. They also think constantly about it because if you can see it so vividly and clearly then it is attainable. That is also something obsessed people do. The only difference is that obsessed people are passive about acting to achieve these dreams/visions. Ambitious people act; because they know that luck is not just a gift basket that falls on your lap randomly, it is a consequence of the meeting of opportunity and preparedness.
Obsessed people want new things but do the same old things. Ambitious people evolve to meet the needs and standards of the ever-changing environment. Obsessed people will wallow in self-pity and burn with jealousy and greed while ambitious people swim in contentment with the understanding that they too have the ability and opportunity to be happy in their current state and in what is to come. They admire those who made it before them and work diligently to make it there as well. Most of all, ambitious people know when to stop.
Obsessed people go through life with one goal that they never reach because they are driven by the desire to have more of that one thing. Ambitious people on the other hand go through life in stages because they achieve many different goals as they go along. Once they get what they want, they move on to something else; something new because life has so much to give.
As you navigate through life therefore, ask yourself; are you obsessed or ambitious? Then again there is obsessive ambition which is a whole different ball game altogether.
