CHAPTER 5
“You like him, don’t you?”, Anne did not look at me. Her usual cheerfulness was negligible. She attempted to smile.
I nodded. She sighed. “What happened to your finger?” She motioned at my bandaged right thumb.
“Just a scratch” I lied. She rolled her eyes.
“I’ve been meaning to ask”, I could tell she was looking at me from the corner of her eyes, “have you been able to sleep?”
Ever since that day, I had struggled to sleep. I kept seeing the bodies and the blood. I still did. In fact more vividly.
“Yes” I responded.
“Is that all?” she asked.
I couldn’t tell her that my dreams had changed. I had also started to develop some sort of desensitization because of the dreams. I even dreamt that I was the killer. That terrified me a bit.
“Yes”
