SAM
CHAPTER 4
I met the inspector. His eyes were as stern and brown as everyone had described them. His clothes were well pressed and clean cut. I got the feeling that he had been doing this job for well over a decade. I could see it in his eyes. He leaned lazily against a street light as he waited for me. He gazed at me as I approached him. My heart raced.
“Am I…excited?” I thought to myself.
“Did you kill them?”
I was rudely dragged back to reality, “What?”
“What were you doing that morning on that road? From what I’ve gathered you never use that route”
“I…wha…why would you even think that!” I was not amused, “You are not here to hear myside of the story, are you”
I started walking away.
“Wait! Sam?” He started. He grabbed my right hand. His grip was delightfully firm, “I apologize. I’m just frustrated. I have a fortnight left to find the killer.”
“I should never have agreed to meet you! I thought….?”, I bit down my disappointment.
“huh!!” was all he said. His face was contorted in what may have been a mixture of disgust and shock. He did not bother to follow me.
