CHAPTER 3
It had been 8 days since the inspector came for me at the shop. Two more deaths had been reported; all dismembered as the first three. Anne showed up again. Thankfully I did not see any of the recent murders. I kept touch with the news though.
“Do you know what the men had in common?” Anne asked me as we ate our lunch under a tree behind the store.
“Nope!” I bit into the hard bread, “Enlighten me”
“Apparently,” she grabbed my bottle of juice and gulped it all down. I was used to her behavior, “They were married men with a nasty habit of battering their wives.”
I could feel the bread as it slowly made its way down my throat, “…that’s it?”
“…Yeah”, Anne narrowed her eyes as she gazed into the distance, “They deserved it. Just like those murdered three years ago.”
I sighed.
